Overview
Through Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, you'll gain a framework to understand societal structures and evaluate global social challenges including inequality, poverty, sexism, racism, violence, and climate change. You'll develop practical skills in qualitative and quantitative research, and have the opportunity to participate in internship programs. Professors are also available at the UFV Centre for Social Research, which provides a forum for interdisciplinary research, and an informal environment for training, mentoring, and discussions.

Admission Requirements: The Sociology BA programme page links to UFV's Academic Calendar entry for the Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, applying the university's general BA entrance requirements. B.C. secondary applicants need graduation or equivalent with a minimum C+ in English Studies 12 (or First Peoples 12) and a minimum B average in two further Approved Grade 12 courses; applicants with post-secondary study instead need the ENGL 105/CMNS 125 prerequisites plus one of 30 credits at 2.00 GPA, nine transferable credits at 3.00 GPA, a two-year-plus diploma at 2.50 GPA, or a bachelor's degree at 2.00 GPA. As a Bachelor's degree it falls under UFV's Degree/diploma-level English language proficiency standard, detailed in the Calendar's English Language Proficiency section. Applicants who do not meet entrance requirements can pursue university-level upgrading through a Qualifying Studies Advisor, or high-school-equivalent upgrading through an Upgrading Advisor.

Start Date:Three entry points a year - Fall (September to December), Winter (January to April) and Summer (May to August, run as two sessions of May-June and July-August). UFV's programme list shows this one admitting for all three.

Allow up to six weeks for a decision, and pay the tuition that confirms an offer by 1 May for Fall, 1 October for Winter or 15 February for Summer.
