BA/BS in Information Security (BCS)

Information Security is a Bachelor of Computer Science Specialist program at the University of Toronto Mississauga, offered through the Department of Mathematical and Computational Sciences as an interdisciplinary blend of computer science and mathematics. Students study cryptography, network security, and digital forensics, with courses ranging from an overview of the field to in-depth treatment of the systems, number-theory, and computational-complexity aspects of computer security, building on foundations such as computer organization and architecture. Admission is gained directly from high school under the Computer Science admission category (OUAC code TMX); students who have completed post-secondary studies elsewhere, including at other University of Toronto divisions, are not eligible to transfer into this admission category. Graduates are prepared for roles such as information systems security analyst, IT project manager, network architect, and data scientist, and for positions with organizations including the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.
