Cybersecurity (BCS) is a stream within Carleton University's Bachelor of Computer Science, covering the foundations and practice of information systems security, including computer and internet security and privacy, and applied cryptography, alongside a background in computer science and software engineering. Coursework includes computer science fundamentals such as algorithm design and procedural programming, and applied cryptography topics such as stream and block ciphers, hash functions, authentication protocols, key distribution and digital signatures. A Co-op option provides paid work terms for employability skill development and workplace experience. Graduates pursue careers in biotechnology, business information security, security software design and development, software security analysis, systems security analysis, and web services and infrastructure, drawing on Ottawa's high-tech sector and federal government departments and agencies.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: The Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent, including a minimum of six 4U or M courses. The six 4U or M courses must include Advanced Functions, and Calculus and Vectors.
