Hons in Criminology, Law & Society (HBA)

Criminology, Law & Society at the University of Toronto Mississauga takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding law, crime, and criminal justice, examining how social factors influence crime patterns and shape different experiences within the justice system. Students may draw on courses from Anthropology, Forensic Science, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, and Women and Gender Studies to satisfy program requirements, developing analytical, writing, and research skills through engagement with research on criminal behaviour and legal processes. The curriculum covers Indigenous legal traditions, youth justice, hate crimes, vigilantism, white-collar crime, law enforcement strategies, and debates about policing. The program is offered as a Specialist, intended for students planning graduate study in a related field, or a Major, providing a broad foundation for students with an academic or civic interest in law, crime, and criminal justice. It leads to the Honours Bachelor of Arts and prepares graduates for careers in law, policing, corrections, advocacy, and policy.
