Hons in Criminology & Socio-Legal Studies (HBA)

Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto St. George campus, delivered through the Centre for Criminology and Sociolegal Studies, examines crime, justice, and governance through law from multiple disciplinary perspectives, drawing on faculty backgrounds in sociology, anthropology, history, law, psychology, philosophy, and political science. The program incorporates theory, research methods, and knowledge from across these fields to provide a foundation for understanding crime and the administration of justice in Canada and abroad, and more broadly the processes of social order and disorder. The curriculum includes courses on Indigenous peoples and the criminal justice system and Indigenous law, alongside attention to Indigeneity throughout the program. Offered as a Specialist (11.0 credits, including 7.0 in CRI courses) or Major (8.0 credits), leading to the Honours Bachelor of Arts, the program is often combined with Political Science, Psychology, or Sociology; graduates work in correctional services, law enforcement, courts, government departments, and NGOs.
