Geology (HBSc) at the University of Toronto is offered as a Specialist within the Faculty of Arts & Science at the St. George campus, with a work-integrated learning option available. The program gives what the university describes as the deepest level of education within the field of geology, preparing students for careers in the energy and mineral resources sectors, as government-employed geoscientists, in geoscience research and in other fields where geoscience knowledge is valued. Core coursework covers mineralogy, petrology, sedimentology, structural geology, mineral resources and hydrogeology, alongside Earth history and field mapping. The Specialist satisfies the academic requirements for professional membership with the Association of Professional Geoscientists of Ontario and comparable bodies in other Canadian provinces and territories. This program suits students with a strong foundation in the physical sciences who want a hands-on, field-based route into professional geoscience. It is delivered at the University of Toronto St. George campus.
