The Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Art History and Visual Studies is about the rich visual traditions of world cultures. Admission Requirements: Admission to Art History and Visual Studies follows the University of Victoria's general Year 1 entry rules, assessed by province and curriculum. BC and Yukon applicants need English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at 73% or higher, plus two further approved academic Grade 12 courses, plus one additional approved academic or approved fine-arts 12 course; other provinces and curricula set their own equivalent lists on the program page, for example Ontario's English 4U at 73% plus five further 4U/4M courses. International Baccalaureate applicants need the full IB Diploma with at least three Higher Level subjects, English at HL or SL with a minimum score of 3, and an estimated overall diploma score of about 27 points. The program page defers language proficiency to UVic's general undergraduate requirement, published on the university's admissions site: IELTS Academic 6.5 with no component below 6.0, TOEFL iBT 88 with no section below 20, PTE Academic 65 with no skill below 60, Duolingo English Test 120 with no subscore below 110, or CAEL 70 with no section below 60. Transfer applicants from a BC college normally need a minimum "C" (2.00 on UVic's 9-point scale) across their most recent coursework.
Application Details
Start Date:September (Winter Session) entry is the main intake and the only one open to applicants still in high school. UVic also lists January and Summer starts for this program, open to applicants who have already left high school and to post-secondary transfer applicants.
Application Deadline:UVic institution-wide dates, identical for Canadian and international applicants (UVic publishes no separate international deadline). September entry: 31 January. January entry: 30 September. Summer entry: 31 March. The January and Summer intakes are for high-school graduates and transfer applicants, not for students still in high school. High-school applicants who submit grades by early December can be considered for early admission. UVic states these are annual fixed dates and warns that a program can stop accepting applications at any time without notice, while some programs keep accepting them past the published date.
