Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies (ES) is a double major program. This means you must combine your ES major or minor with another major program. This includes majors with an honours program and majors from other faculties. This will lead to a double major BA or BSc degree. Through the ES portion of your degree, you will examine systemic aspects of environmental issues and explore solutions that cut across the boundaries of traditional disciplines.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: UVic's direct-entry line for BC and Yukon high-school applicants is Approved English 11, a Mathematics foundation course, an approved Science 11 and an approved Social Studies 11/12, then English Studies 12 or English First Peoples 12 at 73% or higher plus three further approved academic Grade 12 courses, with an estimated competitive Grade 12 average of a minimum of 82%. The IB route needs a full diploma with at least three Higher Level subjects and English HL or SL at 3 or higher, for an estimated 28 points excluding bonus points. Transfer applicants' minimum average ranges from a C (2.00 on UVic's 9-point scale) on 12 or more recent university-transfer units up to a B (5.00) on a completed diploma. Environmental Studies cannot be taken alone: UVic requires it be combined with another degree program as a double major, or as an honours/major pairing. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet UVic's language-proficiency requirement, typically IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band under 6.0, or TOEFL iBT 88 overall with no section under 20.

International applicants use the same portal and face identical dates, since UVic publishes no separate international deadline. UVic treats these as fixed annual dates rather than rolling admission, though it warns any programme can close early without notice. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
