Classical Studies at the University of Waterloo leads to a Bachelor of Arts in Classical Studies or Classics, at the undergraduate level, offered as both a co-op and a regular program. Students examine the roots of Western civilization through the history, religion, philosophy, art, science, and technology of ancient Greece and Rome. Those who choose the Classics stream also study Greek and Latin language. The program develops research, critical thinking, and writing skills through close study of ancient texts and material culture, with opportunities for study abroad. Graduates go on to careers and further study in law, public policy, culture and heritage work, and education, along with other fields that value broad analytical and communication skills.
