Materials and Nanosciences is an undergraduate program at the University of Waterloo leading to a Bachelor of Science in Materials and Nanosciences within the Faculty of Science. The curriculum covers the design of composite materials, ceramics, semiconductor materials, fuel cells, energy storage devices, and solar cells, combining chemistry, physics, and mathematics. Approximately half of the coursework is in Materials and Nanosciences courses, with the remaining half in chemistry, mathematics, and physics courses, giving students a background spanning multiple science disciplines and material types used in engineering and technology applications. The program is available in both co-op and regular (non-co-op) formats, with co-op students alternating academic terms with paid work terms while completing the same core science curriculum as students in the regular program.
