Anthropology (MSc) is a thesis-based research master's program in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Toronto, offered in the Archaeology, Evolutionary Anthropology, and Medical Anthropology fields. Anthropology studies the unity and diversity of humanity and human culture and society from a comparative, global perspective, and the department trains students across archaeology, evolutionary anthropology, linguistic and semiotic anthropology, medical anthropology, and sociocultural anthropology. MSc students complete 4.5 full-course equivalents, including a required methods course, the core seminar ANT2500Y, and further science-focused coursework in archaeology, evolutionary anthropology, medical anthropology, or a related discipline, in addition to a research thesis. The program runs full-time over two years (six sessions, Fall-Winter-Summer in each year) and is delivered in person at the St. George campus, preparing students either to graduate with the MSc or to continue into the department's PhD program.
