Overview

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering at the University of Waterloo is a research-based graduate program in the Faculty of Engineering. Students develop skills as problem solvers, leaders, and innovators, designing mechanical and electro-mechanical systems and solutions that impact industries such as manufacturing, robotics, energy, and transportation. The program combines graduate coursework with an original research thesis completed under faculty supervision, allowing students to specialize in areas of mechanical or mechatronics engineering aligned with their research interests. It runs full-time over 24 months, with intakes in the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms, and is delivered on the University of Waterloo campus. Admission Requirements: Applicants need a relevant four-year honours bachelor's degree, or equivalent, with at least 75% overall standing in the last two years. Where required, English language proficiency is demonstrated with a TOEFL score of 4.5 (writing 4.5, speaking 4, reading 4, listening 4) or an IELTS score of 6.5 (writing 6.0, speaking 6.0).
