Overview

The Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering (Nanotechnology) at the University of Waterloo is a research-based graduate program in the Faculty of Engineering, combining mechanical and mechatronics engineering training with a focus on nanotechnology. Students develop skills as problem solvers, leaders, and innovators, designing mechanical and electro-mechanical systems while engaging with advances in nanotechnology and its engineering applications. The program combines graduate coursework with an original research thesis completed under faculty supervision, allowing students to work at the interface of mechanical engineering and nanoscale science and technology. It runs full-time over 24 months, with intakes in the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms, and is delivered on the University of Waterloo campus. Admission Requirements: Applicants need a relevant four-year honours bachelor's degree, or equivalent, with at least 75% overall standing in the last two years. Where required, English language proficiency is demonstrated with a TOEFL score of 4.5 (writing 4.5, speaking 4, reading 4, listening 4) or an IELTS score of 6.5.
