Overview
The History programme is a four-year Honours BA covering historical research and writing across a range of periods and regions. Students can pursue Combined Honours options that pair History with a second subject, take courses in public history and digital history, complete practicums, and work in small classes with close faculty contact. A co-operative education (co-op) option is available for students who want to combine coursework with paid work terms; the co-op stream carries a higher admission average requirement than the direct-entry programme. The curriculum develops critical thinking, archival research and communication skills for careers in fields such as law, education, public policy, journalism, museums and archives. University-reported outcomes show a 95% employment rate for graduates in the social sciences two years after graduation, based on Ontario university graduate survey data.

Admission Requirements: Canadian high school applicants need English (ENG4U) with a minimum 70% grade in that course, and a minimum 70% overall average. The co-op option requires a minimum 80% overall average, with at least 70% in English. International applicants need the equivalent of Grade 12 English and the same minimum 70% overall average (80% for the co-op option). Applicants whose first language is not English must meet the university's English proficiency requirement, for example a minimum IELTS Academic score of 6.5 or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 83.
