The Joint PhD in Educational Studies is offered collaboratively by Lakehead University, the University of Windsor, and Brock University. Students specialize in one of three research areas: Cognition and Learning; Educational Leadership and Policy Studies; or the Social, Cultural, and Political Contexts of Education. The program combines two required in-person courses, each delivered intensively over a single month (July, held annually), with the remaining required coursework completed online or through independent study. This structure is designed to accommodate students who are unable to relocate for full-time, on-campus study. As a joint doctoral program, students are formally admitted through one of the three partner universities while drawing on faculty and resources across all three institutions for supervision, coursework, and research training in education.
