BA/BS in Community Development

Community Development is an undergraduate major offered at Brescia University College, an affiliate of Western University, through the Department of Sociology. The module totals 6.0 courses, with 3.0 required Sociology courses covering community development theory and practice, including Sociology 2215A/B, 3330F/G, 3331F/G, 3334A/B, and either 3333F/G or 3335A/B, and either 3307F/G or 3322A/B. The remaining 3.0 courses are electives chosen from Family Studies and Human Development, Indigenous Studies, History, Political Science, Psychology, Religious Studies, and further Sociology options. The programme leads to a Bachelor's degree with a Major in Community Development and prepares graduates for work in community organizations, social services, and related fields. Enrolment in the module is limited: students must submit a Community Development application form by May 1, with priority given to students already registered at Brescia. Entry also requires completion of first-year requirements including one Sociology course at the 1000 level with a mark of at least 60%.
