Western University offers BA/BS in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, a bachelor's degree in Epidemiology programme in London, Canada. The programme runs for 4 years. Tuition for international students is CAD 47,493 per year (CAD 6,171 per year for local students).
Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Western University is an undergraduate program within the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, offered as an Honours Specialization, Major, or Minor module toward the Bachelor of Medical Sciences (BMSc) degree. The curriculum covers epidemiology, the study of the determinants and distribution of disease in human populations, and biostatistics, the development and application of statistical methods to medical research data. Students work toward skills applicable to health policy analysis and disease-prevention program design. In fourth year, students complete a research project, giving the later part of the program a hands-on research component supervised by faculty. Students are mentored by faculty who are practising epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and physicians. Academic counselling, career development resources, and departmental scholarships and funding opportunities are available to students in the program. Teaching is based in the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry on Western's main campus in London, Ontario. The program suits students who want to apply statistical and population-health methods to disease research and health policy, particularly those aiming toward public health, biostatistics, or further graduate study in population health sciences.
Requirements
Minimum GPA:75.00 / %
Admission Requirements: Epidemiology and Biostatistics is not entered directly from high school: students first complete Medical Sciences First Entry / Medical Sciences 1-2 in the Faculty of Science, then apply to this Honours Specialization module for year three of the BMSc. Ontario high-school applicants to Medical Sciences need the Ontario Secondary School Diploma including English (ENG4U), Biology (SBI4U), Chemistry (SCH4U) and Calculus and Vectors (MCV4U), with Physics (SPH4U) recommended. Admission to the BMSc requires a minimum average of 75% on the year-two 2000-level courses that form the admission requirement for this module (assured admission for Medical Sciences 2 students needs 80%, with no course below 60%); Schulich's own published averages show recent cut-offs of 75.0% for 2025/26 and 75.0% for 2026/27 for this module (not FULL, at the baseline floor), showing how competitive the pool has run. Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Western's institution-wide proof-of-English-proficiency policy, e.g. IELTS Academic 6.5 overall with no band below 6.0.
Application Details
Application Deadline:Western applies through the Ontario Universities' Application Centre, which opens for Fall 2027 entry in late September 2026; Western's own equal-consideration deadline for full-time undergraduate study is 15 January 2027, the same date used for domestic (OUAC 101/105) and international applicants alike, since Western publishes no separate international closing date. Several named programmes carry their own earlier deadlines within the cycle: Medicine (MD) closes 1 October 2026, Law (JD) and Dentistry (DDS) close 1 November 2026, Education (BEd) closes 2 November 2026, and Western Integrated Science closes in early April 2027. Students already enrolled in an Ontario high school cannot be required to respond to an offer before 1 June 2027. Admission is not rolling: applicants are assessed against these published deadlines. These are institution-wide dates; this programme publishes no deadline of its own.
