Communication Studies (MA)

The Master of Arts (MA) in Communication Studies provides advanced training in communication theories and methodologies, with a critical studies focus on media, communication, and culture rather than business communications. Students choose among three routes: a major research paper with coursework, a thesis with coursework, or coursework only; a co-op option with limited enrolment is available in any route. Full-time study is normally completed in twelve months (sixteen months with co-op), with a maximum completion time of twenty-four months; part-time study is also considered. Classes are delivered in person, with intake each September. Admission requires an honours Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, or equivalent, with a minimum B+ average in the major and a B+ overall average over the final two years of study, supported by a statement of research interests, a ten- to twenty-page writing sample, and two academic references.
