Overview

Geomatics Engineering leads to a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering. The program covers the collection and analysis of geospatial data, using land surveying, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), geography and computer science to model and digitize the physical world. Coursework focuses on positioning and navigation, sensors, measurement and mapping, alongside the development of spatial awareness and analytical skills applied to engineering problems. The program is offered on a full-time basis. It suits students interested in combining engineering fundamentals with geospatial technology, preparing graduates for careers in surveying, mapping, remote sensing, GIS analysis and infrastructure planning. Entry is available in the Fall term for first-year and upper-year students, with no Winter or Summer intake.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma applicants need ENG4U, along with senior chemistry, physics, advanced functions and calculus courses, each at a minimum of 70%; the overall academic average should be in the mid-80s, with a final academic average of at least 78% required to maintain the offer. Equivalent secondary-school prerequisites apply for other provinces and countries.
