Overview
Global Work & Labour Studies is a Bachelor of Arts (BA) examining how technology, globalization, international trade and public policy are transforming work around the world. Using an interdisciplinary approach, students study employment, labour rights, workplace conditions, and the social, economic, political and legal forces shaping work in Canada and internationally, drawing on historical and contemporary case studies of labour markets and workplace regulation. Both full-time and part-time study are available. The program suits students interested in labour relations, human resources, social policy or international development, preparing graduates for careers or further study in labour advocacy, workplace policy, human resources and related public- and non-profit-sector fields. Entry is available in the Fall, Winter and Summer terms for first-year and upper-year students.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Ontario Secondary School Diploma applicants need ENG4U plus five additional 4U or M courses, with an academic average in the low-to-mid 70s and a final academic average of at least 70% required to maintain the offer. International Baccalaureate applicants need a minimum IB diploma score of 28 points. Equivalent secondary-school requirements apply for other provinces and countries.
