Overview

The Graduate Diploma in Environmental/Sustainability Education is offered jointly by York University's Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change and Faculty of Education. It allows educators working in schools, community organizations, cultural institutions and advocacy groups to develop expertise and participate in research, theory and practice in environmental and sustainability education. The diploma can be completed concurrently with a Master's or Doctoral degree in the Graduate Program in Education, or as a standalone, direct-entry credential for those not pursuing a full graduate degree. The concurrent option requires 15 to 27 credits plus a thesis or dissertation, while the direct-entry standalone option requires 12 credits. Courses may be delivered online, in a blended format, or face-to-face. As a graduate diploma, the credential does not certify students in a particular professional field but documents specialized study on the transcript. Students in the direct-entry, stand-alone option are not eligible for student funding.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: For concurrent enrolment, applicants must first be admitted to York University's Graduate Program in Education. For the direct-entry, stand-alone diploma, applicants must be admissible to the Graduate Program in Education.
