Yukon University's First Nations Governance and Public Administration Certificate is a three-year, part-time program comprising 10 courses (30 credits) designed for managers working in self-governing Yukon First Nation governments. The program provides practical, academically accredited tools transferable toward a diploma or degree, bridging the gap between existing post-secondary offerings and the governance needs of Yukon First Nations. Courses are delivered through a combination of in-class and distance education, with online or in-person options; students outside the host community can participate by videoconference or by travelling to attend sessions. The program begins in September or January. Students complete coursework addressing First Nations governance and public administration and must achieve core competency in Yukon First Nations knowledge, and must maintain a cumulative grade point average to graduate.
Requirements
Admission Requirements: Applicants need English Studies 12 with a minimum of 65%, or five years of manager-level work experience. Students must also achieve core competency in Yukon First Nations knowledge over the course of the program.
