Alternative Dispute Resolution is a master's programme taught in Estonian in a session-based format, with 20 places, at Tallinn University's Institute of Social Sciences. The nominal study time is two semesters, extended by one further semester, so students should note that certain scholarships, benefits and study loans are unavailable once the nominal period has ended. The semester price is given as approximately 1640 euros.
The aims are to give systematic knowledge of the main theories of conflict and its resolution, and of the purpose, development, types and methods of out-of-court dispute settlement. Students practise interdisciplinary analysis of questions that arise in conflict resolution, learn to carry out conciliation procedures within the meaning of the conciliation law, mainly in common types of conflict, and learn to judge their own need for professional development.
The programme is aimed above all at people whose work brings them into contact with disagreements and disputes between people.
