The English subject in the Master of Education looks at Great Britain, North America and the postcolonial world. With its interdisciplinary orientation it studies language, literature and culture in depth and also touches on history, philosophy, politics and media studies. Content focuses on linguistics and communication, North American studies, and British and postcolonial literary and cultural studies.
Compared with the bachelor's level, more attention goes to educational sciences and didactics, covering language, literary, cultural and media didactics and active learning methods. A practical semester is a key part.
For grammar and comprehensive schools, English is combined with another subject and educational sciences. Graduates mainly teach at schools. Entry is possible in winter or summer semester, and the language of instruction is English.
