Educational sciences form the bridge between a student's subject training and the school as a place of work. The contributing disciplines study how teaching and development processes function while keeping institutions and wider society in view.
Within this area, future teachers prepare for the placement semester and for the supervised training period that comes after the degree. Topics include how lessons and learning settings are designed, how teachers can support pupils differently and inclusively as classrooms grow more varied, and which psychological and social factors shape learning in and beyond school.
The course is the Master of Education for vocational colleges, where a vocational specialism, a second school subject and educational science are combined. Study takes four semesters, may start in either term, and is delivered in German and English; no admission limit applies. Graduates find work as teachers, school leaders, trainers of other teachers, officials in school administration or ministries, researchers, careers advisers, and staff in vocational training.
