Everything connected with growing and rearing food for people and animals, and renewable raw materials, falls under this Master of Education. Its branches are crop production, animal science, organic farming, and economics and social science.
The master builds systematically on bachelor-level knowledge, but the balance between specialist science and didactics is turned around: teaching questions and school practice take on greater importance. The purpose is to let future vocational teachers pass on their specialist knowledge effectively to learners in relevant trades, for example farmers, foresters, florists, gardeners and equestrian professionals.
A teaching degree for vocational colleges joins a vocational specialism, a school subject and educational science, and the placement semester in schools is a major element. The course lasts four semesters. Graduates mainly teach at vocational colleges; in Germany, public school teaching also requires the supervised practical training that follows the master's degree.
