Program details

Overview

Plant Sciences is an international programme that addresses the fundamental and applied aspects of plant biology. It establishes a foundation in plant cell development, biochemistry, physiology and molecular biology, and then connects this knowledge to specialised areas such as systematics and biodiversity. A wide choice of laboratory courses, from transgenic plants to plant biotechnology and paleobotany, lets students pursue their own interests. Students work with external partners, including a large research centre, a Max Planck institute and neighbouring universities, which broadens the research options available to them. Graduates are prepared for academic teaching and research, basic investigation in plant biology, industrial development in plant protection and biotechnology, and consulting for public authorities and environmental organisations. The programme is taught in English and suits candidates with a life sciences background.

Requirements

Admission Requirements: University degree in a life sciences subject or a related field (German or non-German); English proficiency CEFR B2; minimum grade 2.7 or local equivalent; 20 ECTS of practical laboratory work; restricted admission (NC, local special selection).
