Computer Science is a six-semester Bachelor of Science at Ruhr-Universität Bochum that is taught bilingually in German and English. It starts in the winter semester and has open admission (zulassungsfrei).
The curriculum deals with practical questions such as how robots are programmed, how a cloud works, how a navigation system finds the quickest route, what quantum computers are and how a phone recognises a face. Specialisations include machine learning and algorithms.
A compulsory internship is part of the degree, and a semester abroad in the fifth or sixth semester is recommended, supported by Erasmus partners. A preparatory course from the Faculty of Computer Science is held in September.
Further details on enrolment are available separately for German and international applicants, and the semester contribution is explained on a dedicated university page. Students can turn to the study advisory service of the department with questions about content and admission.
