BA/BS in Informatik

The Bachelor's programme in Computer Science at Bielefeld University treats informatics as the systematic, automated processing of information. Its methods are now part of modern industrial societies and reach almost every area of life, which keeps demand for skilled computing specialists high. The Faculty of Technology emphasises interdisciplinary collaboration in research and teaching, so students learn alongside peers from neighbouring fields. Studying computer science as a core subject lets students build a clear professional profile within the degree. The course gives graduates the ability to design and implement computing applications across a variety of sectors. It offers a solid starting point for further specialisation or for direct entry into technical roles. Students gain a grounding in algorithms, software development and the theory behind computing systems, which together support careers in software, data processing and applied research.
