MA/MS in Vides māksla

The Department of Environmental Art at the Art Academy of Latvia concentrates on building creative thinking, confidence and an individual style. The master's route lasts two years full-time and awards a humanities master's degree in audiovisual and media arts; a four-year bachelor's route is taught in the same department. Assignments are practical, conceptual and inventive, set in indoor, outdoor and digital surroundings, with the aim of conveying a particular vision or idea. Students study composition, graphic design and model-making in assorted materials as different forms of storytelling. Other subjects include computer graphics, elements of planning exhibitions, and conventional drawing, painting and sculpting. The department offers chances to work on projects with city councils and event organisers, which helps students realise their ideas. Workshops run with other departments touch on urban planning, contemporary science, anatomy, developing ideas and communicating them.
