BA/BS in Sociālais darbinieks

The programme prepares social work professionals to support a wide range of client groups and improve individual quality of life, with study content organised around a modular system that lets students shape their own path through the coursework. Alongside core theory on the nature of social problems, social policy and the structure of the welfare system, students build practical diagnostic, methodological and analytical skills through varied supervised placements with different client groups. Research work forms an ongoing thread, encouraging students to examine current social issues in both Latvian and international contexts and to connect theory from multiple disciplines with everyday practice. Graduates are trained to identify and address problems at individual, group and societal level, form part of multidisciplinary teams, and apply relevant law on social security and human rights. On completion, graduates can work in state and municipal social services, care institutions, schools or non-governmental organisations.
