BA/BS in Ģeogrāfija

The Geography bachelor's programme at the University of Latvia is an academic degree course delivered full time on campus in Riga and taught in Latvian. It runs for six semesters, carries 180 ECTS credits and leads to a Bachelor of Natural Sciences degree in geography. The programme gives students insight into both physical and human geography, together with regional and applied studies. Critical thinking and an understanding of natural and social development processes form a central part of the studies, and research skills are built up alongside academic knowledge. Theory is reinforced through seminars, practical and laboratory work and field courses. Students also take courses in geographic information systems, cartography and remote sensing, which give them practical tools for working with spatial data.
