MA/MS in Veterinary medicine

This programme trains veterinary surgeons in the legal framework governing veterinary work in Lithuania and the EU, alongside the structure, function, behaviour and welfare needs of animals. Clinical training builds skills in preventing, diagnosing and treating animal disease, including first aid, anaesthesia and the humane destruction of animals, together with knowledge of diseases that can pass from animals to humans, food-hygiene standards for animal products, and the safe prescribing and use of veterinary medicines. Teaching moves from lectures and small-group seminars into simulated clinical cases using mannequins and then into supervised work with live animals and animal material, covering history-taking, interpreting test results, prescribing and dosing drugs, giving injections, dressing wounds and performing simple procedures under supervision, with further practice on farms, in slaughterhouses and at outside clinical sites. Assessment combines written and practical exams, case analysis, a rotation diary and reflective reports with a structured clinical examination, and the programme concludes with a research-based thesis.
