The programme develops interior design specialists able to apply aesthetic, technological, historical, psychological and social principles when designing objects for a range of uses, including elements of the natural environment. Students carry out artistic and social research to justify the value and purpose of a project, work through the stages of preparing interior and architectural design projects, and learn to collaborate with clients, contractors and other professionals. Coursework spans architectural graphics, drawing, interior history and finishing materials, 3D and spatial modelling, computer-aided design, construction and reconstruction, lighting and furniture design, together with project management, intellectual property law and business management basics. The programme also builds skills in selecting materials according to ecological and economic principles, and in critically evaluating and presenting design concepts to clients and colleagues.
