General Description:
Objective(s) of a study programme:
To train a Master of Environmental Engineering having knowledge of up-to-date tendencies of environmental engineering science, environmental technologies and their management, capable to collect the information needed for decision-making, plan research and evaluate its results, choose environmental pollution reduction measures in accordance with technical, social, commercial and environmental requirements, make theoretical models and apply mathematical analysis and modelling, maintain professional competence in lifelong learning.
Learning outcomes:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of up-to-date tendencies of environmental engineering science, problems in the field of environmental engineering, their solutions, criteria of intellectual and material resources assessment, concept of clean production.
Knowledge of product life cycle, material and energy balance, sustainable development of environment, systems and principles of environmental management.
Research skills:
Ability to identify, find and evaluate the data necessary for engineering managerial work using databases and other sources of information.
Ability to plan and carry out analytical, modelling and experimental studies, ability to critically evaluate the data and present the findings.
Engineering analysis:
Ability to analyse and evaluate the processes taking place in the environment and their interactions in interdisciplinary aspects.
Ability to use their knowledge and innovative methods for solving of practical engineering managerial tasks by applying and compiling theoretical models and research methods, including mathematical analysis, computational modelling and experimental research methods.
Engineering design:
Ability to apply their knowledge and understanding, plan environmental decision-making, taking into account the technical, social, health, safety, environmental, commercial and other requirements.
Ability to make the engineering managerial decisions when faced with multiple, technically vague and not accurately specified problems.
Engineering practice ability:
Ability to use their knowledge and understanding for creation of pollutants dispersion models, and apply various methods, including mathematical analysis and experiments.
Personal and social abilities:
To be able to effectively work independently and in a team, be able to be a leader of a team, which may include different directions and different level representatives, be able to holistically understand the impact of the engineering solutions on society and the environment, maintain the professional competence through lifelong learning.
To understand the aspects of project management and business, to understand the links between technological solutions and their economic consequences and ability to communicate with target groups.
