BSc (Hons) Food Science and Technology, listed as A400, is a full-time degree that studies food through engineering, biology, chemistry and physics. It looks at why foods deteriorate, how production and processing work, and how safety and quality are improved, against a backdrop of shortages, climate pressures, waste and soil depletion that make food security a growing concern.
A 6-month internship is built into the programme, and students can leave early with a Certificate or Diploma once they have earned 60 or 120 credits. The full award needs 202 credits, with annual loads between a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 96 credits.
The programme prepares graduates to contribute to food systems that are safe, sustainable and well managed.
