MA/MS in Classics and Ancient Civilizations

The master's programme is aimed at students who want to develop expertise either in the classical languages themselves, or instead in the religions and cultures of the Near East, Rome or Ancient Greece. It is offered jointly by the University of Amsterdam and VU Amsterdam, which combine their expertise in Classics, Ancient History and Archaeology through their joint centre, ACASA, widening the options available for thesis supervision. Students are treated as research partners, with opportunities to take part in staff research, and can specialise in either Classics or Ancient Studies while also building interdisciplinary thinking skills.
