MA/MS in European Studies: Identity and Integration

This one-year Master's studies present-day challenges facing Europe and the European Union through the lenses of politics, media, arts and culture, and history, approaching European identity and cultural diversity through historiography and cultural and literary studies. It builds theoretical knowledge of European history and culture to examine tensions and conflicts and current debates on European integration and identity, focusing on four themes: the use of culture in EU community-building policies and practices, shifts in the idea of Europe and what European identity means, transnational manifestations of European culture, and nationalism and national identities. Students develop writing, presentation, and research skills, organise and carry out a study visit to a city that holds the title of European Capital of Culture, and, within an international classroom, build intercultural and interlingual skills.
