MA/MS in Humanities (research): Linguistics

The track trains students as professional linguistic researchers, specialising in Forensic Linguistics or Human Language Technology. Human Language Technology sits between linguistics and computer science and builds a background in language technology and processing large data sets. Forensic Linguistics applies methods of linguistic analysis to criminal investigations and legal issues through a combination of seminars, lectures and hands-on practical work with case materials drawn from real investigations, analysing spoken and written language, including solving linguistic puzzles encountered in those investigations, improving professional communication and protecting people at a linguistic disadvantage.
