In this specialisation, you will learn how health is shaped by factors such as income, education, work, social security, and the environment—and how healthcare systems respond to these challenges.

The growing need for care raises pressing questions:  

• How can we safeguard access to affordable, high-quality healthcare—while new, costly treatments emerge, populations grow older, and fewer people are available to support those in retirement? 
• And what policies are needed to address urgent public health challenges such as mental health problems, pandemics, and climate change? 

You will dive into how healthcare systems are organised, funded, and regulated, and how patients, providers, and insurers make decisions within them. You will analyse how economic incentives and institutional structures shape health outcomes. With solid training in data analysis, you will gain the skills to design and evaluate policies that strengthen healthcare, promote health, and ensure fair access to care, both in the Netherlands and across the globe.
