UDST's Advanced Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology is a three-year programme that takes students further into the technical side of the construction industry than the standard two-year diploma. Areas of focus include reading and producing project documentation, costing and estimating work, and applying the safety standards expected on a construction site.
Students spend considerable time in laboratory and workshop settings operating equipment under supervision, which lets them practise the testing and maintenance tasks construction technologists carry out in the field rather than only studying them. That applied emphasis is meant to leave graduates ready to step into a technical role with minimal additional training.
The programme accepts entrants straight from secondary school who meet its mathematics and science requirements, as well as holders of the related two-year diploma, who can use it as a route to a more advanced construction-technology qualification.

Admission Requirements: Entry is either (a) a high-school certificate with a minimum overall average of 60%, plus one final-year Mathematics and one final-year Science course (Chemistry or Physics preferred), or (b) UDST's two-year Diploma in Construction Engineering Technology, or an equivalent recognised diploma. English is met by the University English Placement Test, an equivalent test, IELTS Academic 5.0 overall with no component below 5.0, or Foundation Program completion. Mathematics is met by 60% on the University Math Placement Test, a SAT score of 480+, or Foundation Program completion.
