Overview
Environmental Studies and Sustainability, delivered as a four-year bachelor's pathway, approaches environmental problems through the social sciences and humanities as much as the natural sciences, examining the economic and political forces behind environmental issues and the realistic policy responses available to address them. Anthropology, geographic information systems, climate change and environmental management all feature across the four-year sequence.
Practical experience is built directly into the structure rather than left to electives: students complete fieldwork, a hands-on internship and a final capstone project, giving them exposure to research, public-service and industry settings before graduation. Coursework also covers population-measurement methods and the risks natural hazards pose to both renewable and depletable resources, alongside the pollution-management and ecological-interaction content expected of an environmental degree.
Graduates are positioned for roles across research, education, public service and industry, reflecting the programme's deliberately broad, policy-oriented take on environmental work rather than a narrower natural-science focus.
