The Bachelor's programme in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology introduces the molecular life sciences, namely biochemistry, molecular biology, microbiology and genetics. It provides basic training in mathematics, physics and computer science, together with an in-depth introduction to organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. Laboratory practicals play a major role, training hands-on technique and applying lecture content to experiments.
The programme is taught in German and English and runs for six semesters, which can be extended by up to one year. A master's programme in English follows, with five specialisation directions covering biochemistry and chemical biology, cell and molecular biology, microbiology and immunology, neuro and developmental biology, and plant physiology. A PhD of three to four years is also offered.
