The Bachelor's programme in Chemistry and Molecular Sciences gives a basic scientific training in chemistry, materials science and the biosciences, covering inorganic, organic and physical chemistry and biochemistry. In the second and partly the third study year, the programme closely interlinks with biochemistry and molecular biology, which is a strength of the course in Bern. It aims to help students understand current research questions and master experimental methods.
Full-time students complete the programme in six semesters, which can be extended without application by up to one year, with examinations still required during that time. The programme is taught in German and English and starts in autumn semester. Graduates can continue to an English-taught master's programme of three semesters and 90 ECTS, and then to a PhD lasting three to four years.
