Overview

The bachelor in classical archaeology studies the material remains of Greco-Roman civilisations across the Mediterranean, from the Neolithic to the end of the Roman Empire. Architecture, sculpture, ceramics and painting are examined in direct relation to the objects, and excavation forms an integral part of the training. The unit is active at the Swiss School of Archaeology in Greece and in Italy. Knowledge of Greek or Latin is not required at bachelor level, but one of the ancient languages is required for the master. The programme runs for 3 years and carries 180 ECTS credits.
