Program details

Overview

This NMC-validated degree prepares students to become mental health nurses who support people on their journey to recovery. Teaching combines classroom learning with hands-on placements, so students develop practical care skills alongside an understanding of why problems arise and how they can be treated. Modules cover the causes of mental health difficulties, the interventions used to address them, and how people from varied backgrounds experience them. Biological, psychological and social factors that shape wellbeing are examined throughout, and students are linked to NHS partner trusts for their placements. Successful completion leads to a qualification that allows graduates to begin a nursing career. A foundation year option is offered for students who need preparation before the main degree, and the course can start in March in Chelmsford.
