Program details

Overview

This MSc is designed for registered midwives who already hold a level 7 postgraduate diploma in midwifery. It extends that foundation to master's standard by requiring an independent research project on a topic of personal choice, relevant to midwifery practice in the UK or abroad. Learners may attend full-time, part-time or through distance learning. Intakes occur in September and January, so the completion date depends on when a student starts. Guidance from academic staff is available throughout the research phase. The qualification suits practising midwives who wish to examine an issue that affects their own work or the wider profession. Graduates gain research capability they can carry into clinical practice and service development.
