MA/MS in Biology, General

This master's program builds skills for work in biology, biotechnology, health fields and research. It readies students to enter research doctorates or health-profession schools, including medical, dental, optometry, podiatry and veterinary programs, and it serves secondary teachers who need graduate credit toward certification. Students may investigate a question in the laboratory or field under a faculty member, or study the scientific literature with faculty guidance. A teaching assistantship could pay for a large share of tuition. The Garden City campus offers small classes, one adviser for academics and another for pre-professional goals. Applying is simple: no minimum GPA is set and each application is reviewed individually. The GRE is not needed, and a bachelor's in biology is preferred although applicants from other majors are considered when they have completed biology courses.
