MA/MS in Biology, General

Boston University's biology department offers a master's degree that prepares students for advanced work in cellular and molecular biology, neurobiology, or ecology, behavior and evolution. Faculty advisors from the chosen area are assigned in the first term. Three routes lead to the degree: one based only on coursework, one adding a literature-based scholarly paper approved by a faculty committee, and one adding a research thesis. Each route requires a set of graduate-level units and a minimum grade average, and the share of lecture, lab, seminar and research units varies by route. Applicants should have finished a bachelor's in biology or a related field. Graduates should be ready for more graduate training or for teaching and research jobs in universities, companies, government bodies and nonprofit groups.
