BA/BS in International Business

This liberal arts major is for students curious about global affairs and eager to work across languages and cultures. Its home is the world languages department, and faculty from the humanities, the arts, and the social sciences contribute. Each student picks a regional concentration, from Europe and Latin America to Asia, or the Middle East together with Africa. Language study is central: at least four semesters in a language tied to the chosen region are required. Students also spend time abroad in a country where that language is spoken and that falls within their region. Practical experience is built in through an approved internship, either overseas or with a globally active employer based in the United States. Courses on the culture, history, and accomplishments of the region support this work. Students finish with a capstone project guided by faculty from several departments, emphasizing writing and research methods suited to their area.
